This weekend, the Petersen Automotive Museum—reopens December 1st!—turned Japanese with an all-Nippon cruise-in. It was an event long overdue, and certainly welcomed. They put the word out to Facebook, Twitter, smoke signals, mirrors off the moon, etc. And then, over 500 cars showed up. (more…)
A few times a year, there is a Concours d’Elegance held in Florida called the Festivals of Speed. These photos are from the event in St Petersburg back in April. I was hoping to show them sooner, but was sidetracked for a while with a broken coolant temperature sensor connector in my Miata. But that’s a story for another time. It is always exciting this time of year when the Honda Grand Prix takes over the streets of St Pete, but this year was especially thrilling, because I got to shoot as part of the photographer pool for the Grand Prix. This was closer than I’ve ever gotten to see the track, the drivers, the pit lane, and well… everything! (more…)
One of my favorite local speed shops, S&R Performance, merged with Vortex Motorsport recently and on Saturday night my wife and I attended the massive grand opening of their new shop, VSR Motorsports. (more…)
In April, St Petersburg, Florida hosted the Festivals of Speed, a traveling Concours d’Elegance-style show with cars, boats, and aircraft laid out for display on the grass of a swank country club. I didn’t make it to this particular festival, as at the last minute I realized that my dad was coming down for a visit on the same weekend. So, my wife volunteered to go and shoot it for me. Special thanks goes to her for that. I did get to go to the one in Orlando a month later, and I should have the photos from that event posted very soon, but this one had some pretty amazing and special rides that didn’t make it to Orlando, cars that I’ve never even seen in real life. To quote the title of the old Monty Python spinoff, “and now for something completely different.” As I mentioned previously, a few weeks back when I went to Cars & Coffee at duPont REGISTRY, there was a stance car show the very same day, just a few hours later. This isn’t the typical performance-focused content that I feature, but this was the first meet of this particular title/series, so I decided to check it out. (more…)
