Looking back at Amelia Island’s Cars & Coffee

Last month’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance was this author’s first attendance to the event and it was big… huge in fact. Due to a combination of trying to cover it all, preparation for publishing, not to mention attending the Sebring 12 and a Miata meet all in the same month; Amelia’s Cars & Coffee event ended up on the proverbial cutting room floor… until today. After the jump, we’ll revisit Cars & Coffee with a selection of photographs of the cars which were there. 

duPont REGISTRY’s November 2014 Cars and Coffee

The recent November edition of the Cars & Coffee car show at duPont Registry of St Petersburg, Florida was a great mix of classic beauty and in-your-face exotics. Some regulars were recognized from my last trip to the registry back in 2011, along with a few cars that are just now beginning to trickle out of Europe and Japan.

I’m finally getting around to posting last month’s Cars & Coffee event from three weeks back. Things got derailed a bit when, the day after attending this and an Evo meet at S&R Performance (post on that to come), I woke up with a bad case of what my wife thinks was heat exhaustion. No more 2 event weekends without carrying some water.

Anyways, on this outing to Cars & Coffee, I arrived 20 minutes later than last time (made a wrong turn and had to go over the bridge twice), and had to park outside the event, more over towards the exotics. As a result, this time I’ve got many more photos of the high end rides for you to see after the jump.

The best looking custom Corvette I’ve ever seen

I ran across this C3 Corvette at the duPont REGISTRY Cars & Coffee the weekend before last, and thought it deserved it’s own feature here on Hoonart. I’ve loved C3 Corvettes (C3 is the 3rd generation, for the uninitiated) since childhood. In my opinion, no other generation demonstrates the idea of the “Coke bottle” body as well as the C3’s did. They were also still in production when I was born and very common back then, and have been my favorite for as far back as I can remember. This black beauty that was on display is in my opinion, probably the most badass C3 that I’ve ever seen.

I was so excited about Cars & Coffee that on Friday night, like a kid about to go to Disney World, I couldn’t sleep. At 6AM, I went out and got the biggest can of Monster that they sell and a quick bite to eat. The main thing I’d been excited to see was Lamborghinis, but from what you see here in this opening image of the Ultima GTR, there were Lambos and so many other cars to get excited about, that I’d only previously seen in magazines. Here are the best of what I shot.

WARNING: In Case of Rapture, this hoon will be hanging with el Diablo

According to some Christians, today was allegedly supposed to be the rapture. All week I’d been looking forward this day, and not because of the religious affiliation (I’m Atheist), but because this hoon was going to get a taste of heaven on earth at Cars & Coffee at duPont Registry, in St Pete, with “Lambos before the world ends.” I also attended the first “Straight Stance Low Low Flush Show” today. I’ll post pics from both shows soon. I’d hoped and hoped that there would be a Diablo present at Cars & Coffee today of all days (what with the rapture association) and sure enough, there it was in Verde Ithaca.
